In 2011, some of the greatest Chefs met at the Palace of Versailles to celebrate the admission of French gastronomy to UNESCO’s World Heritage list. This gave birth to the idea of a World Culinary Tour with the most celebrated culinary artists.
On April 16th 2012, Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious network of luxury hotels and restaurants, will host its second-annual “Dîner des Grands Chefs” or “Grands Chefs Dinner“, titled Springtime this year in New York. This exclusive black-tie gastronomic event will gather more than 45 of the world’s most celebrated chefs-including Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael White, Daniel Boulud, Mario Batali, Normand Laprise and Jonathan Cartwright-in New York’s elegant Gotham Hall. For this second dinner, Relais & Châteaux Grands Chefs from all around the world will work together in teams of three, each team serving their assigned table a five-course meal of their loftiest interpretations on lobster, scallops, fish and lamb, sourced entirely with American ingredients.
In order to fully appreciate this Art de Vivre, each of the privileged guests will have the pleasure of savouring dishes created by three Grands Chefs, accompanied by the most superb champagnes and wines: Pommery Cuvées Louise, Peter Michael Les Pavots 2007, Porto Rozes 1947… And because generosity does not stop at mere culinary delights, a portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to Citymeals-on-Wheels.
