Anne-Sophie Pic, chef proprietor of Maison Pic in Valence, France, has been named the first ever winner of the Veuve Clicquot World’s Best Female Chef 2011 beating Nadia Santini of Dal Pescatore, Italy, and Elena Arzak of Arzak, in Spain.
Pic, 41, made headlines in 2007 when she became the fourth woman in history to hold three Michelin stars, for the restaurant that she took over from her father and grandfather. The restaurant received its third Michelin star under her grandfather in 1934 for the first time. Since then, all three generations, including her father Jacques Pic, have received three Michelin stars for the restaurant. Specializing in fish and seafood dishes, focusing on textures and light flavors, Anne Sophie Pic’s cuisine is an absolute delight for connoisseur of fine food. She studied in the U.S. and Japan before heading the kitchen.
Pic was chosen by a panel of 837 voters around the world that included food critics, journalists, chefs and restaurateurs representing 27 different international regions. She will collect her award at the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards on April 18th.
