The perfect Mai Tai cocktail recipe
entertainment  home | admin
Looking for a unique drink to make and sip during your summer weekends? I intend to present you a rum-based drink: the Mai Tai. The Mai Tai happens to be one of many legendary cocktails that is hugely popular all over the world; it’s a drink recommended for people who like the flavor of rum and the colors of a warm summer sunset: yellow, red and orange. You’ll love the Mai Tai purely and simply because it’s one of those drinks you just have to sip, then sit back and watch life unfold in front of you. And with summer just around the corner, do you need another reason?
The creation of the Mai Tai happened in Oakland (California) in 1944 by Victor Bergeron, better known as Trader Vic. The name of the drink was expressed by the guests, who were from Tahiti, when they exclaimed “Mai Tai - Roa Ae”, which means “Out of This World - The Best“. That is how the Mai Tai was born. There are many recipes for Mai Tai, seven of them, including three different versions of Trader Vic’s, as well as the recipe of Don the Beachcomber. However, here is my favorite Mai Tai cocktail drink recipe. So let’s get started.
The perfect Mai Tai cocktail recipe guide
Ingredients
2 cups light rum
1 cup dark rum
1 cup orange curacao (orange flavored liqueur)
1 cup Amaretto or almond flavored syrup
2 or 3 dashes of Grenadine
1/2 gallon fresh orange juice
1/2 gallon fresh pineapple juice
1/2 oz lime juice
cherry for garnish
Preparation
Pour all the ingredients in a long glass, stir and top off with cherry and paper umbrella. You can also pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes then shake well for about 30 seconds. Strain the cocktail drink into a long glass half filled with ice.
Don’t forget to share with your friends and drink responsibly…Cheers!
