Experience Zero Gravity in Chicago: flight and package details
home  travel | admin
Ever wondered how astronauts prepare for the rigors of weightlessness without going to space or how Tom Hanks floated in the blockbuster movie Apollo 13? The answer is a Zero-G flight or Zero Gravity flight.
Zero Gravity is a unique opportunity to fly like a superhero and float like an astronaut without actually going to space. This time, after Las Vegas, Los Angeles for Valentine’s Day, New York, Cape Canaveral and Miami, the same weightless experience onboard G FORCE ONE, ZERO-G’s specially modified Boeing 727-200 aircraft is coming to Chicago on Saturday March 27th 2010. Ladies and gentlemen, save your date and let the adrenaline come to you!
How does it work?
The Zero Gravity Experience is a 5 hours program in which you will learn how to maximize your time in Zero Gravity and officially become weightless certified. Aboard our specially modified Boeing 727, G-FORCE ONE, weightlessness is achieved by doing aerobatic maneuvers known as parabolas. Specially trained pilots perform these aerobatic maneuvers, which are not simulated in any way. ZERO-G’s passengers experience true weightlessness.
Your day starts at the check-in counter at the Zero-G training facility where you will be introduced to your team coach and offered a light breakfast After, your pre-flight orientation will begin with a video covering everything you need to know about your Zero-G experience such as security, what to expect etc… Later on, you will be transported to the aircraft’s location before taking off into your fly zone.
Before starting a parabola, G-FORCE ONE flies level to the horizon at an altitude of 24,000 feet. The pilots then begins to pull up, gradually increasing the angle of the aircraft to about 45° to the horizon reaching an altitude of 34,000 feet. During this pull-up, passengers will feel the pull of 1.8 Gs. Next the plane is “pushed over” to create the zero gravity segment of the parabola. For the next 20-30 seconds everything in the plane is weightless. Next a gentle pull-out is started which allows the flyers (you) to stabilize on the aircraft floor. The plane typically climbs and descends 12 to15 times, each rise-and-fall offering weightlessness for 20 to 30 seconds. The weightlessness experienced by everyone inside the airplane is actually equivalent to the type of “free fall” you experience when sky diving; you’ll be bouncing, drinking floating water, touching fellow passengers and enjoying full zero gravity like a real astronaut in space. In addition to achieving zero gravity or weightlessness, G-FORCE ONE also flies a parabola designed to offer Lunar gravity (one sixth your weight) and Martian gravity (one third your weight).
