Anybody that has been to Paris, France or has frequented real A-list parties has at one time or another ran into Parisian Macaron. I wrote Macaron or Les Macarons not to be confused with a similar sandwich-like pastry, but written “Macaroons”. So, the Macaron is a traditional French pastry, made of egg whites, almond powder, icing sugar and sugar; it’s a delicacy you will see in many ordinary French bakeries, however, in my opinion the real deal comes from Ladurée for which I have fallen head over heels.

Ladurée is a luxury bakery brand founded in 1862 by Louis Ernest Ladurée, a french miller from the southwest of France. The brand is known as the inventor of the double-decker macaron known all over the world. When I was in Paris last week on a business (and pleasure) trip, I stopped at Ladurée in the grand department store Le Printemps. It was a true mind blowing experience! Indeed, Ladurée Printemps offers a cozy and gourmet pause in a middle of a busy shopping day. I tasted different flavors such as almond, orange blossom, caramel, vanilla, liquorice, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I knew they were going to be good; the crème centre was slightly dense but by no means heavy. The Ladurée vanilla macarons was by far my favorite; oh la la this was frankly incredible and not too sweet!

Laduree offers an incredible assortment of flavours. They vary with the seasons and may include almond, apricot, blackcurrant, caramel, chocolate and bitter chocolate, red fruits, orange blossom, cinnamon, coconut, mint, coffee, hazelnut praliné, fig, lemon, liquorice, orange, pistachio, raspberry, rose, truffle, vanilla, violet and walnut. We can generally agree Ladurée Macarons are among the most famous and the most delicious, plus the design of the macarons gift boxes is a real success. Don’t you agree?

There is no way to be in Paris and not to pay respect to this Parisian institution: the world’s best macarons at Ladurée; not to mention they are extremely pricey!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
