Caran d’Ache, the Secret Journey II: Chateaubriand 19th century
home  lifestyle | admin
When you buy an expensive pen, you make a statement that sets you apart from the crowd. Some people on the other side believe a watch reflects the owner’s personality; I think it’s both. Swiss Maison de Haute Ecriture, Caran d’Ache founded in 1924 reveals one of Switzerland’s most beautiful secrets; Secret Journey II, the second treasure in its trilogy of writing instruments. The limited edition “Secret Journey II” is an homage to the years Francois-René de Chateaubriand, a well known French writer from the 19th century spent in Geneva.
This second series of the trilogy of writing instruments comes with a fountain pen and a roller pen both plated in rose gold and personalized by a guilloche design. Carefully designed to match the writing instruments, the 18-carat gold nibs are finely engraved with the points of the compass. They are available in three widths: Fine, Medium and Broad. Delicate illustrations of the Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) are finely engraved on the body of the writing instruments; but one of the great features is the secret mechanism (manually activated) that reveals a quote by Chateaubriand: “One of those beautiful nights that God seems to create for Switzerland alone…”
The “Secret Journey II” is beautifully presented in a black lacquer box depicting the Lausanne region. A limited quantity of 300 fountain pens and 150 roller pens will be produced. With a price over US $10,000, the Caran d’Ache “Secret Journey II” luxury writing instrument is a unique collector item to have.
